News India Live, Digital Desk: Before the start of IPL 2026, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have included Zimbabwe’s 6 feet 8 inches tall pacer Blessing Muzarabani in their team. But this deal has raised a big controversy as Muzarabani was already contracted with PSL team Islamabad United. Root of controversy: Breach of Contract PCB alleges that Muzarabani has breached the ethics by breaking his ‘binding contract’ (mandatory contract): Deal with Islamabad United: Muzarabani was signed by Islamabad United as a replacement for West Indies’ Shamar Joseph. But was signed for ₹1.10 crore (11 million PKR).KKR’s offer: As soon as KKR approached Muzarabani as a replacement for Mustafizur Rahman (released on the instructions of BCCI), he decided to leave PSL and go to IPL.PCB’s tough stance: PCB under the leadership of Mohsin Naqvi is now preparing a legal case against Muzarabani. The board believes that this harms the integrity of the league. Will Mujarabani be banned? (Precedent from the Past) PCB is adopting a policy of ‘zero tolerance’ in this matter and there is an old example behind it: Corbin Bosch Case: Last year (2025), South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch left Peshawar Zalmi and chose Mumbai Indians. After this, the PCB had imposed a one-season ban on him. Muzarabani may also be banned from playing PSL in future. Clash of Schedules: A major reason for this dispute is the simultaneous existence of both the leagues: PSL 11: 26 March to 3 May 2026. IPL 2026: 28 March to 31 May 2026. Since both the tournaments are running at the same time, players are having to choose one. Most of the foreign players are giving priority to the big stage and huge salary of IPL. Mujarabani’s role in KKR. KKR has signed him because their main bowlers Mathisha Pathirana and Harshit Rana are injured. Muzrabani will join the team after reaching Kolkata on 17 March 2026.
