Moksha or peace of mind, what is the unheard truth of Brahmakund Ghat of Haridwar?

The famous Brahmakund Ghat situated on the river Ganga in Haridwar has special significance in Sanatan Dharma. It is believed that bathing here brings salvation. According to religious legends, due to the harsh penance of King Shweta, Lord Brahma was seated on this ghat. This place is also known as Har Ki Pauri. It is considered very important for the devotees to take bath here. While on one hand many people believe that bathing in this ghat brings salvation, on the other hand some people believe that bathing here gives peace and tranquility to the mind.

Every year lakhs of people come to bathe in Brahmakund Ghat. Many people also come here and take bath during Kanwar Yatra. Apart from this, bathing in Ganga here has special significance on occasions like Mauni Amavasya, Kartik Purnima and Kumbh Mela. It is believed that during these days the water of Ganga becomes like nectar. Now the question arises that what is the reason that bathing in Brahmakund is considered to attain salvation. Why does one attain salvation by taking bath in Brahmakund?

According to religious stories, when the churning of the ocean took place with the help of gods and demons, the tail of Vasuki serpent was in the hands of the gods and its head was in the hands of the demons. A total of 14 gems came out of this churning of the ocean, which also included the pot of nectar.

According to the story, when the Amrit Kalash was being taken away from the demons, some of its drops fell at various places on the earth. Brahmakund of Haridwar is also considered to be one of these places. For this reason, on holy days like Kumbh, Mauni Amavasya, Kartik Purnima, Ganga Dussehra and Ganga Saptami, the water of Brahmakund is considered like nectar. It is believed that by taking bath here on these days, one attains salvation.

How did Har Ki Pauri get the name Brahmakund?

According to mythology, near Har Ki Pauri, King Shwet was doing penance to please Lord Brahma. Pleased with his rigorous penance, Lord Brahma appeared and asked him to ask for a boon. Then King White expressed his wish that this place should get the status of God. Accepting his wish, Lord Brahma sat here. Since then this place came to be known as Brahmakund. People also immerse the ashes of their ancestors at this ghat because it is believed that by immersing the bones in the Ganga, the dead soul attains salvation. How to go to Brahmakund Ghat?

To reach Brahmakund, devotees first have to reach Dehradun or Haridwar from the nearest railway station, airport or bus stand of their state. After this, from there one can easily reach Brahmakund Ghat located at Har Ki Pauri through bus, taxi or private vehicle.
