Servant who works for money – friend who praises, Chanakya told which 4 people one should be careful of
In today’s fast-paced life, trust has become the biggest bet. Every person is looking for such people around him whom he can trust blindly. But the reality is that sometimes this trust becomes the biggest betrayal. Some claim loyalty, some talk about being together all the time, but when the time comes, the reality of relationships comes to light. In today’s story we are going to talk about those four people who should always be cautious.
It is said that there is no greater teacher than time. This is the time that decides who is ours and who is just a friend for show. To explain this truth, a discussion between Chandragupta Maurya and his guru Acharya Chanakya is as relevant today as it was at that time.
Who cheats the most?
While strolling along the river bank, worry was clearly visible on Chandragupta’s face. Chanakya asked, “Son, why is the mind so troubled?” Chandragupta said, “Gurudev, I want to trust my servants, friends, relatives and scholars, but my trust is broken again and again. After all, who betrays me the most?” Chanakya said in a calm voice, ‘Son, the real danger is not from outside enemies, but from our own people. Today I will tell you about four such people from whom one should always be cautious.
Why is a selfish servant dangerous?
Chanakya explained, “A servant who is with you only for money or benefits can never be loyal. Giving the example, he said that a king gave a bag full of gold to his servant, but when the enemies lured him for more money, he revealed the secrets of his own king. Remember,” Chanakya said, “one who is attached only for money will change as soon as he gets the price.”
Is every friend who praises really a friend?
Chanakya said that ‘A true friend is the one who stops you and tells you your mistakes. But the one who praises you on everything is not a friend, but a hidden enemy. He told that a king started taking wrong decisions because of one such friend, because no one was going to stop him. The result was that his kingdom was ruined. Sweet words are not always true.
Why can even relatives become our biggest enemies?
Chanakya said that ‘Relations are not based only on blood but on emotions. Where jealousy comes, relationships become weak. Giving the example of Duryodhana, he told how jealousy drove the entire family into war. Such relatives smile at your happiness, but keep burning inside.
Can even a learned person cause harm?
Chanakya said in his voice, “The most dangerous person is the one who is intelligent but not loyal.” He told that a scholar out of greed revealed the secrets of the kingdom to the enemies, which led to the downfall of the entire kingdom. Knowledge is power only when it is accompanied by loyalty.
So who should we trust?
Chandragupta finally asked, ‘Gurudev, shouldn’t anyone be trusted? Chanakya smiled and said, ‘Trust him, but with your eyes open, judge the servant by his work. Friends, choose only those who speak the truth. Only a true relative is one who is happy with your success. And keep only those scholars who will protect your secrets. ‘ He further said, “The biggest armor of life is vigilance. Because betrayal often comes not from distant enemies, but from people nearby.’
