Money rains on World Cup winning team India, what will New Zealand get?

The final match of T20 World Cup 2026 was played on March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and the Indian team registered a spectacular victory in this match. The Indian team defeated the New Zealand team by 96 runs and won the title for the second consecutive time. This was a historic day for the cricket fans of India and after winning this title, a lot of money is going to rain on Team India. According to ICC rules, now Team India is going to get a major share of the prize pool kept for the World Cup 2026.

 

According to ICC rules, the winning team of T20 World Cup 2026 will get prize money of 3 million dollars i.e. the Indian team will get 3 million dollars. If we talk about it in Indian Rupees then this amount comes to around Rs 27.48 crore.

More money than the last World Cup

Team India had also won the 2024 World Cup but at that time the team did not get that much money. This time ICC had kept the total prize money of the tournament at a record 13.5 million dollars. In the last World Cup tournament, this amount was 11.25 million dollars. That means this time the prize pool has been kept 20 percent more than the 2024 World Cup.

 

How much money will New Zealand get?

India has won this tournament but New Zealand also reached the finals due to its excellent performance. The New Zealand team will get the runner up prize, which is 1.6 million dollars i.e. about Rs 14.65 crore.

How much money will other teams get?

Apart from the winning and runner-up teams, the teams that have reached different stages will also get money. In this, the teams that reach the semi-finals will get Rs 7,90,000 i.e. Rs 7.24 crore. This amount will be given to the teams of England and South Africa. Apart from this, rewards will also be given to those teams which traveled till Super 8 but could not reach the semi-finals. Each such team will receive $3,80,000 i.e. approximately 3.48 crore Indian rupees. Apart from this, an amount of $2,50,000 i.e. approximately Rs 2.29 crore has been assured for each team participating in the tournament.

Sanju Samson becomes player of the tournament

Sanju Samson batted well throughout this World Cup. For his excellent performance, the final match of T20 World Cup 2026 was played on 8 March at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Sanju broke many records by scoring 89 runs in 46 balls in the final. Apart from this, star bowler Jasprit Bumrah was chosen as the player of the match.
