Monsoon Alert – IMD Issues Red & Orange Alert for 10+ States May 23-28, Full Weather Update – Breaking News & Live Updates Today

Monsoon Alert: The IMD has issued a warning about severe heatwaves. Intense heat is expected across most states of the country between May 23 and May 28. A ‘Red’ alert has been issued for Eastern UP, MP, and Vidarbha, while an ‘Orange’ alert has been issued for Delhi-NCR. In Bihar, an alert has been issued for storms with wind speeds of up to 70 km/h, while a rain alert is in effect for Uttarakhand and Himachal.

Monsoon Alert: Across North India, mercury levels have soared to 47-48 degrees Celsius. Due to the intense heat, daily life for the general public has been thrown into complete disarray. Amidst this severe heatwave, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for heavy rainfall in certain states in its latest bulletin. According to the IMD, from May 23 to May 28, people will have to contend with scorching sunshine and gusts of hot winds. The Meteorological Department has issued a ‘Severe Heatwave’ alert for Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Eastern Madhya Pradesh. In the Delhi-NCR region as well, the intense heat has made daily life extremely difficult for residents.

In recent days, temperatures ranging between 45°C and 47°C have been recorded across Central India, as well as in adjoining areas of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and the eastern and northern parts of Peninsular India. The highest maximum temperature—47.2°C—was recorded in Brahmapuri (Vidarbha). Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are likely to continue during the next 6-7 days over the plains of Northwest India, Central India, and Eastern India.

In view of the severe heat, the Meteorological Department has issued a ‘Red Warning’ alert for East Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Meanwhile, an ‘Orange Warning’ has been issued for Punjab, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Telangana.

States Expected to Experience Heatwaves

– During the period of May 23–28, there is a likelihood of heatwave conditions prevailing in certain parts of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Specifically, severe heatwave conditions are expected in Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Eastern Madhya Pradesh.

– From May 23 to May 28, there is a high probability of heatwave conditions occurring in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi; Furthermore, severe heatwave conditions are likely in several areas within this region between May 24 and May 27.

– Between May 23 and May 28, there is a high probability of heatwave conditions in certain parts of Rajasthan; additionally, severe heatwave conditions are likely in specific areas of Western Rajasthan from May 24 to May 28.

– During the period of May 23–24, in certain parts of Bihar, there is a very high probability of heatwaves occurring in certain parts of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Telangana between May 23 and May 26.

Delhi-NCR Weather
An “Orange Alert” for heatwaves will remain in effect for the Delhi-NCR region from May 23 to May 27. In addition to Delhi, severe heat is expected across the entire NCR region, including Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram.

Uttar Pradesh Weather
In Uttar Pradesh, a heat alert has been issued for most districts today, May 23. A ‘Yellow Alert’ regarding the heat has been issued for 17 districts, including Deoria, Lakhimpur, Sitapur, Lucknow, Ayodhya, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, and Shahjahanpur. A ‘Red Alert’ for heat has been issued for 10 districts of UP.

Bihar Weather
In Bihar, an alert for thunderstorms and rain has been issued for May 23 and 24. Strong winds, with speeds ranging from 50 to 70 kilometers per hour, may blow across the region. There is also a possibility of heatwaves in several areas until May 24. In Patna, there is a likelihood of thunderstorms accompanying the heat. Alerts for rain accompanied by thunder and lightning have been issued for Purnia, Muzaffarpur, and Bhagalpur.

Uttarakhand Weather Forecast
In Uttarakhand, an alert for rain accompanied by thunder and lightning has been issued for today, May 23. Hailstorms may also occur in some hilly regions. Light rain accompanied by strong winds is possible in Dehradun, Nainital, Pithoragarh, and Uttarkashi.

Himachal Pradesh Weather
In Himachal Pradesh, a warning for rain accompanied by thunderstorms has been issued for the districts of Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla for tomorrow, May 23. According to the IMD, light rain is expected in Shimla, while Manali may experience squalls and lightning.
