New Delhi: March has reached its halfway mark, and the heat has already begun to make its presence felt. The weather has started making people sweat—much like it does in May—making daily life increasingly difficult for residents. Overall, temperatures are rising rapidly across most parts of the country. Warnings for hailstorms in some areas and heavy rainfall in others have also been issued.
Snowfall continues in the hilly regions, leading to a noticeable drop in temperatures there. Meanwhile, the heatwave is intensifying in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. In Haryana and Punjab, rising temperatures have left the general public sweltering. In South India, however, rainfall in several places has provided much-needed relief from the heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast the possibility of heavy rainfall in various regions across the country.
Know the Weather Forecast for Delhi
In the national capital, Delhi, temperatures appear to be rising rapidly—even within the month of March itself. According to the IMD, the maximum temperature on Saturday is expected to range between 31°C and 33°C, while the minimum is likely to hover between 18°C and 20°C. Winds are expected to blow at a speed of approximately 10 kilometers per hour. An alert for light rainfall on March 15 has been issued; this could lead to a slight dip in temperatures.
Know the Weather Forecast for UP and Bihar
The Meteorological Department has forecast that temperatures in Uttar Pradesh are likely to rise by 3 to 5 degrees over the coming days. According to the IMD, an alert has been issued for March 15 and 16, warning of strong winds blowing at speeds of 30–50 km/h, along with the possibility of light rainfall in certain areas. In Bihar, too, the intensity of the heat is expected to increase across several regions.
Rain Forecast from Punjab to Kashmir
The Meteorological Department has forecast the possibility of thunderstorms, squalls, and lightning strikes in the Western Himalayan region—and the adjoining plains—around March 15 and 16. Adverse weather conditions, accompanied by strong winds, are expected in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. A hailstorm alert has been issued for parts of Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.
Rain Warning for South India
The Meteorological Department has indicated that weather conditions are likely to undergo a change in several regions of South India. The IMD has forecast the possibility of light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, in Telangana between March 15 and 17. Additionally, warnings regarding rain and lightning strikes have been issued for various parts of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh.
