Monsoon reaches India: warning of rain and strong winds in 16 states
New Delhi. With the advance of south-west monsoon in the country, the weather patterns have started changing rapidly. After increasing activity of monsoon in South India, now its effect is visible in many parts of North, East and West India also. The Meteorological Department has predicted rain, thunder and strong winds in about 16 states of the country during the next 24 hours.
According to weather experts, pre-monsoon activities have also intensified with the progress of monsoon. Its impact is especially visible in the plains of North India and the North-Eastern states. People are expected to get relief from the scorching heat due to rain with strong winds in many areas.
Heavy rain expected in South India
Monsoon activity continues in Kerala and is now extending to various areas of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rain in these states for the next few days. There are signs of increasing rainfall activities in parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana also.
Rainy season in north-eastern states also
Monsoon clouds remain active in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Sikkim. Heavy rain may be recorded at many places in these states. People have been advised to exercise caution in view of situations like landslides and road blockage in mountainous areas.
Weather will change in North India
There is a possibility of rain and thundershowers in many states including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh. The speed of strong winds can reach 50 to 70 kilometers per hour. The Meteorological Department believes that this change will bring down the temperature and people will get relief from humidity and heat. Rain activities can be seen in both eastern and western parts of Uttar Pradesh.
Chance of rain in Bihar also
The effect of storm and rain can be seen in some districts of Bihar. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of thunder and rain in the surrounding areas including Bhagalpur, Banka, Munger and Jamui. Farmers have been advised to keep an eye on the latest weather information.
Vigilance increased in hilly states also
Forecast of rain and strong winds has been issued in many districts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. There may be thunderstorms and lightning in high altitude areas, while the possibility of hailstorm has also been expressed at some places. The administration has appealed to tourists and local people to travel considering the weather.
