Monsoon Session 2026: All-party meeting today before the monsoon session, opposition including Sonam Wangchuk preparing to corner the government on these issues

New Delhi. An all-party meeting has been called by the Central Government on Sunday, a day before the monsoon session of Parliament starting from July 20. In this meeting, the government will give information about its legislative agenda, while the opposition is preparing to raise various political and public interest related issues prominently.

According to sources, the opposition may raise the issue of removal of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk from the protest site in Delhi’s Jantar Mantar by the police citing health reasons in the meeting. Apart from this, the issue of alleged misuse of offerings in Ram temple of Ayodhya will also be included in the priorities of the opposition. Samajwadi Party has already made it clear that it will raise this issue prominently in Parliament.

House leaders of various political parties will attend the all-party meeting. During the meeting, the government will discuss important bills and parliamentary agenda to be introduced in the upcoming session.

According to the bulletin of the Lok Sabha Secretariat, the Prevention of Insults to National Honor (Amendment) Bill, 2026 has been listed for introduction, consideration and passing in Parliament. This bill proposes to amend the Prevention of Insults to National Honor Act, 1971. Under this, a provision has been made to make insulting the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ or obstructing its singing a punishable offence.

Along with this, the Birth and Death Registration (Amendment) Bill, 2026 will also be introduced in the House. The purpose of this bill is to make the provisions related to delayed registration of births and deaths more stringent.

The government will also introduce the Income Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2026 in Parliament. This bill is being brought to replace the ordinance to provide tax exemption to foreign investors investing in government securities.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has also invited Trinamool Congress breakaway group leader Sudip Bandyopadhyay to attend the all-party meeting.

It is noteworthy that the monsoon session is likely to start from July 20 and continue till August 13. In the all-party meeting held before each parliamentary session, the government shares the outline of its legislative program and requests cooperation from all parties in smoothly running the proceedings of the House.
