Monsoon Update – Rain Alert in 15 States, Heavy Rainfall and Strong Winds Expected
New Delhi: The weather situation remains a cause for significant concern, as a drop in temperature was recorded in several regions following late-night rainfall. The hilly regions of North India are currently experiencing a spell of snowfall, leaving residents shivering in the biting cold. A powerful Western Disturbance is expected to remain active today, March 23rd.
Due to the activation of this system, the threat of rain looms over several states. No immediate relief from the inclement weather is expected in Delhi and the Delhi-NCR region. In parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, the risk of rain—accompanied by shifting cloud cover—will persist. Read the detailed report below to find out what the weather conditions will be like in various regions.
Possibility of Storms and Rain in These States
According to the Meteorological Department, the upper reaches of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir are likely to witness both snowfall and rainfall. As for the plains, regions including Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh may experience rain accompanied by winds gusting at speeds of 40 to 50 km per hour. There is also a possibility of hailstorms in these areas.

A possibility of rain has been indicated for several parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh. Rain is also expected in Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Weather Forecast for Delhi
According to the IMD (India Meteorological Department), the weather in the national capital, Delhi, is likely to remain highly fluctuating. Following rain and strong winds, a significant drop in temperature was recorded on Friday, which also led to an improvement in air quality. Friday was recorded as the coldest day of March in Delhi in the last six years.
Additionally, the Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 93. The weather in Delhi is expected to remain pleasant over the next five days. Light rainfall is forecast for the capital on Monday. Following this, intermittent cloud cover is expected over the next four days.
Weather Outlook for UP
The rainfall spell that had persisted in Uttar Pradesh for several days has now ended. The weather across the state is expected to remain dry for the upcoming week. During this period, there is no likelihood of rain anywhere in the region.
