Monsoon Update – Storm and rain warning for 12 hours across 6 states, darkness will descend

Monsoon Forecast – Bone-chilling cold is gripping various districts of Uttar Pradesh. People’s lives have been severely impacted by the plummeting temperatures and dense fog. Thick fog blankets the hilly areas of Himachal Pradesh, bringing life to a standstill. The situation is similar in Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand.

Due to the worsening conditions, people are resorting to driving with their hazard lights on in the dense fog. The dense fog is also affecting train services. Several trains are running hours behind schedule, increasing the difficulties for passengers. Delays are occurring in reaching destinations. The weather remains turbulent in many parts of South India. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert for various parts of the country.

Here’s a look at the weather forecast for these regions

According to the Meteorological Department, the intensity of the cold in North India is expected to increase further. The IMD has issued a warning of dense fog and snowfall in the hilly areas of Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh until December 31st. Rain is also possible in some places due to a Western Disturbance.

Besides these regions, snowfall and rain are expected in the mountainous areas of Uttarakhand. Cold wave conditions and dense fog are expected in most states of North and Central India.

Air, rail, and road traffic are expected to be severely affected by the fog. Dense fog and cold wave conditions are likely in several parts of Bihar. Fog is also expected in Western Uttar Pradesh, Eastern UP, and Haryana. Haze and fog are expected in the Delhi-NCR region.

Heavy Rain Warning in these states

According to the Meteorological Department, a heavy rainfall alert has been issued for several parts of South India. Heavy rain is expected in most areas of Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu in the next 24 hours.

Rain is also possible in Puducherry and Andhra Pradesh. Given the possibility of lightning strikes and thunderstorms, people have been urged to take precautions. Rain in some areas late last night also made the weather pleasant.
