Monsoon activities across the country have once again started showing interesting and diverse colours. According to the latest weather forecast of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), regional differences are being seen in the speed and intensity of monsoon in different parts of the country. While on one hand a warning of thunderstorm and lightning has been issued in many states of North, East and North-East India, on the other hand in Rajasthan and western areas, the monsoon is expected to become sluggish and the weather will remain largely dry.

Alert of heavy rain in Bihar-UP and hilly states

According to the Meteorological Department, there is every possibility of a new round of torrential rains in the coastal and plain areas of Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Along with this, monsoon remains fully active in the states located in the foothills of the Himalayas—especially Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand—due to which heavy rains will continue in these hilly areas for the next few days. Heavy showers with thunderstorms are also expected in various parts of Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal and Sikkim, due to which there is a possibility of local waterlogging and traffic impact.

Badra will rain continuously in Northeast and South India

Widespread heavy rainfall has been predicted over northeastern Indian states such as Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Meteorologists say that rainfall activities in these areas will continue for many days to come. On the other hand, the activity of monsoon clouds is expected to continue in South India’s coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu as well as in Konkan, Goa and Chhattisgarh.

How will the weather be in Delhi-NCR and Rajasthan?

There is a possibility of sporadic showers and light cloud movement throughout the week in the national capital Delhi and the adjoining NCR region, although at present no major danger or heavy rain is expected here. On the contrary, there are signs of weakening of monsoon in Rajasthan, due to which most parts of the state may remain dry in the coming days and strong dusty winds are also expected in some areas of western Rajasthan.
