More than 80 deaths so far in Pakistan’s air strikes on Afghanistan, India condemned

Pakistan carried out airstrikes on seven locations in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar, Paktika and Khost provinces, killing more than 80 people. Pakistan has described these attacks as a response to the recent suicide blasts in Islamabad, Bajaur and Bannu, for which it blamed terrorist bases based in Afghanistan.

According to the Pakistani government, these attacks targeted targets of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and its affiliated groups. Minister of State for Home Talal Chaudhary claimed that about 70 terrorists have been killed in this action. Pakistan’s Information Ministry has termed it a “precise and retaliatory action”. The attacks were carried out in Barmal area of Paktika, Khogyani, Gani Khel and Behsud areas of Nangarhar.

Pakistan alleges that terrorists sitting in Afghanistan carried out the recent suicide attacks in Pakistan. Pakistan said that the Afghan Taliban had promised in the 2020 Doha Agreement not to allow its territory to be used for terrorism, but this was not implemented.

India has strongly condemned this airstrike of Pakistan. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that civilians have died in these attacks, which is worrying. India described this action as unacceptable and supported the sovereignty of Afghanistan.
