A 50 year old well… and within no time 9 people died.
A heart-wrenching case has come to light from Morena district of Madhya Pradesh. There was a stir in a village here when an old well suddenly caved in. In this accident, 9 people were buried under the debris. On the other hand, the condition of three people in this incident is critical. As soon as the accident happened, there was an outcry in the area. People gathered together and pulled out the people buried under the debris.
Here, as soon as information about the accident was received, the police also reached the spot. All the injured have been sent to the district hospital for treatment. There is sensation in the area after the incident. The families of the seriously injured are in bad condition, crying.
According to the information, the incident took place in Jarauli village of Rampur Kala police station area of the district. Shyamlal Kushwaha had a flour mill shop here. Shyam had set up this shop 5 years ago. When he built this shop here, there was no well here. Because, the administration had closed it many years ago. This well used to be under the tin shed in front of the flour mill. People of the village often used to come here and sit under this tin shed. They would keep talking here until their flour was crushed.
This is how a tragic incident happened
Even on 1st November some people came to grind wheat. They were sitting here and discussing about Diwali, when suddenly the earth shook. Within no time the ground beneath the tin shed caved in. 9 people sitting on it fell into the ground simultaneously. As soon as this accident happened, there was screams and chaos on the spot. After this, nearby youth gathered and started pulling out the people trapped under the ground. Due to the large and heavy stones, they had to struggle for rescue. People slowly pulled out all the injured from the debris. The condition of three of the nine people is said to be critical. The villagers say that at the place where people were sitting, there was a well built 50 years ago. It was closed.
