Actress Mouni Roy has finally broken her silence after rumours about her marriage spread quickly on social media.
Speculation about trouble in the 40-year-old actor’s marriage to businessman Suraj Nambiar surfaced on Tuesday when fans noticed that the couple had unfollowed each other on Instagram.
The buzz grew stronger after fans claimed that not only had the two distanced themselves on social media but the London Confidential lead reportedly archived or deleted pictures with her husband, while Suraj deleted his Instagram account.
This activity was followed by reports about the unverified reason behind their reported separation. Some claims suggested that Suraj cheated on Mouni “to gain fame” and that the couple were no longer living together.
However, after days of speculation, the Made in China actor finally responded.
She shared her first statement on Instagram Stories with a request. She wrote, “Humbly requesting all the media houses to not publish false narratives and give us space and privacy. Please.”
Though she did not clarify what “false narratives” she was referring to.
Mouni Roy is one of the popular faces of Indian television and is best known for her roles in shows like Musk, Dev of Devon…Mahadev and Naagin.
She has also worked in films and appeared in reality shows such as Dance 6, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 7 and Zara dance show.
Suraj, meanwhile, is a businessman and investment banker from Bengaluru. He reportedly lived in Dubai before marrying Mouni.
The couple got married on January 27, 2022, in Goa in a traditional Malayali ceremony, followed by a Bengali wedding ceremony to honour both their cultures.
