Mourinho could reunite with Pepe in new-look Real Madrid coaching setup
Former Real Madrid defender Pepe could be heading back to the Santiago Bernabeu, this time as part of José Mourinho’s coaching staff. Reports suggest the Portuguese icon is well positioned to join Mourinho’s backroom team if plans for the new coaching structure move forward.
The development would mark an emotional return for one of the most memorable defenders in Real Madrid’s modern history. Pepe spent a decade with Los Blancos and established himself as a key figure during one of the club’s most successful periods. His leadership, commitment and winning mentality made him a fan favourite in Madrid.
According to reports, Mourinho is considering adding trusted figures with strong Real Madrid connections to his coaching staff. Pepe’s experience at the highest level and his close relationship with Mourinho have reportedly made him a leading candidate for a role alongside the Portuguese manager.
The pair previously worked together during Mourinho’s first spell at Real Madrid. Their partnership helped the club compete strongly both in Spain and Europe, including the memorable 2011-12 campaign when Real Madrid won the La Liga title with a record points tally at the time.
Pepe retired from professional football after a distinguished career that included major trophies with both club and country. He remained a respected figure within the game and continues to be closely associated with Real Madrid’s success during the 2010s.
