Movie based on black buck case comes into limelight with poster release

New Delhi. Now a film is going to be made on the much talked about black buck hunting case involving Bollywood actor Salman Khan. Producer Amit Jani, known for making films on controversial subjects, has released the first poster of his new film ‘Black Deer: The Battle for Legacy’. As soon as the poster was released, the film has once again come into the limelight, as it claims to bring on screen the events that have attracted the nation’s attention for the last three decades.

Amit Jani made the official announcement by sharing the poster of the film on social media platform X. He told that the teaser of the film will be released on June 20. The poster shows a character whose image looks similar to Salman Khan. On one side he is seen holding a rifle in his hand and on the other side he is seen standing in the dock of the court. Made with a mix of red and blue colors, this poster gives a glimpse of the serious and controversial subject of the film.

The film is being directed by Bharat S Shrinate. According to producer Amit Jani, the film will not be limited to just the black buck hunting case but will show the entire incident which has made headlines for years. In the film, everything from the Jodhpur black buck hunting episode of 1998 to the long legal battle in the courts and various controversies that came up later will be presented in cinematic form.

The producer says that the events of that time have been shown in detail in the film. It covers important aspects like the hunting incident, Salman Khan’s arrest, the court proceedings and the sentence awarded to him. The film has been shot in Sambhal, Moradabad and other cities of Uttar Pradesh.

It is noteworthy that in September 1998, during the shooting of the film ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’ in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, a case of hunting of two black bucks came to light. In this case, a case was also registered against Salman Khan along with actor Saif Ali Khan, actress Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam Kothari. Salman Khan was arrested for the first time on 12 October 1998, although he later got bail.




  • After a legal process that lasted for almost two decades, on April 5, 2018, the lower court had convicted Salman Khan and ordered a five-year sentence and a fine of Rs 10,000.
