MP News: Madhya Pradesh CM Dr. Mohan Yadav presented another historic success to Kuno National Park on International Cheetah Day. He himself took out the female cheetah ‘Veera’ and her two 10-month-old cubs from the big enclosure and released them into the open forest. With this, the number of leopards in the open forest of Kuno has increased to 19.
‘Leopard is Kohinoor for us’- CM Dr. Mohan Yadav
CM Dr. Mohan Yadav said with pride, ‘Cheetah is like Kohinoor for us.’ He said that there are a total of 32 leopards in the state, including 3 leopards from Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary. Sheopur has now gained international recognition because of its leopards and third generation cubs are also present in Kuno. CM especially mentioned the five cubs of cheetah ‘Mukhi’ and described it as extremely pleasant.

Received national honor under the leadership of CM Mohan Yadav
Project Cheetah has received the ‘Innovative Initiative Award’ under the able leadership of CM Dr. Mohan Yadav. In the last three years, 5 female cheetahs have given birth to cubs 6 times, which proves that cheetahs have fully adapted to Indian conditions. Their safety is also being completely ensured through radio-tracking and constant monitoring.
Five times increase in eco-tourism and employment
CM Dr. Mohan Yadav said that tourism in Kuno has increased five times, which has provided employment opportunities to the local people on a large scale. Kuno’s cheetah is now running till the border of Rajasthan. He described it as a living example of the spirit of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, where wildlife and local citizens have lived in harmony with each other.

Inauguration of calendar, manual and souvenir shop
On this occasion, the CM also inaugurated the Kuno National Park Calendar-2026, the book ‘Field Manual for Clinical Management of Free-Ranging Cheetahs’ and a souvenir shop in the park. Minister in-charge Rakesh Shukla, Chief Secretary Anurag Jain and Additional Chief Secretary Ashok Varnwal were present in the program.
