MP Shashi Tharoor gave a big statement regarding Kiren Rijiju, said- bring women’s reservation bill tomorrow
New Delhi. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on Wednesday refuted Union Minister Kiren Rijiju’s claim that she has indirectly accepted that her party is anti-women. Tharoor clarified that the conversation between them was in a light-hearted manner and at no time did he indicate that the party was anti-women. There is no misunderstanding between Kiran and me. We were joking among ourselves. The session was over. We were going. We were joking that no one would consider me a misogynist, which is also true. But at the same time, no one will consider my party as anti-women.

The development came after Kiren Rijiju had said that Tharoor had reportedly accepted in principle that the Congress could be seen as anti-women in the debate over non-implementation of women’s reservation through the 131st Amendment Bill of the Constitution. This bill could not be passed in the Parliament. Tharoor reiterated Congress’s continued support for women’s reservation, saying the party had only opposed the delimitation process attached to the Constitution Amendment Bill. We have been led by women. And we have strongly supported the Women’s Reservation Bill. Be it 2013, when we passed it in the Rajya Sabha, or after that, when this government passed it in the Lok Sabha. We are completely in favor of the Women’s Reservation Bill. What we opposed was linking it with delimitation. We believe the government was unnecessarily hasty in implementing this. Using women’s reservation as an excuse for further delimitation was not at all right. Therefore, if the Women’s Reservation Bill comes as a separate proposal in itself, we will vote in favor of it tomorrow itself.
