Demand for separate province in Pakistan intensifies, MQM-P opens front against Sindh government; Thousands gathered in Karachi-Hyderabad

New Province Demand Sindh Pakistan: The murmur of formation of new provinces has once again intensified in the politics of Pakistan. Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has started a major agitation with its demand for creation of new provinces on administrative basis in the entire country including Sindh.

On Saturday, the party showed its strength through a huge rally in Hyderabad, while in Karachi, senior leaders held a press conference and seriously accused the Sindh government of looting resources.

Thousands of people participated in the rally organized under the leadership of party president Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui in Hyderabad. Addressing the rally, Siddiqui made it clear that the party has never given up its old demand of creating a new province separate from Sindh.

He said the formation of the new province would be based on mother tongue and exchange of land” Should be based on the principles of. Giving historical context, Siddiqui said that the Muhajirs who came from India had come to Pakistan of their own free will under the Liaquat-Nehru Agreement.

Allegations of discrimination regarding budget

MQM-P made sharp attacks on the Sindh government for economic discrimination. Siddiqui claimed that 97 percent of Sindh’s total budget comes from urban areas like Karachi, Hyderabad and Mirpur Khas alone. He alleged that there is a section in the province which is bearing the burden of entire Sindh by paying 100 percent tax, while the other section is taking advantage of those resources without any contribution.

Karachi’s ignored figure

During a press conference in Karachi, Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal presented shocking figures. Kamal said that during the last 18 years, the Sindh government received a total fund of Rs 22 trillion, but out of this, only Rs 680 billion was allocated to Karachi.

He argued that if the pre-2010 GST sharing formula had remained in place, Karachi would have received at least Rs 2 trillion, which could have improved water, hospital and education conditions in the city.

Mustafa Kamal alleged that after the 18th amendment, ++ has concentrated all the powers in itself and has paralyzed the local bodies. Taking aim at Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), he said that constitutional amendments are not being allowed to be passed due to the arrogance of majority.

The party has now decided to take this fight to the streets. In this series, another big protest rally has been called in Shah Faisal Town, Karachi on Sunday, in which the public has been appealed to join for their rights.
