MRPL Refinery: Mangalore Refinery work stalled due to Middle East war? Company broke silence on rumors
News India Live, Digital Desk: For the last few days, it was being claimed in social media and many unconfirmed news that due to the ongoing war between the Middle East (US-Israel and Iran) the supply of crude oil has been disrupted, due to which the work of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) has come to a standstill. On Saturday (7 March 2026), the company has issued an official statement rejecting all these claims. Is the refinery really closed? Company’s official response: MRPL has clarified that the news of closure of some parts or units of the refinery is completely factual and incorrect. According to the company, the refinery is operating normally at full capacity. The company has completely denied the news spreading panic in which it was said that production has been stopped due to shortage of crude oil. ‘Backup’ of crude oil ready: No need to panic. Despite the ongoing geopolitical crisis in the Middle East, MRPL has assured that they have sufficient stock of crude oil to continue fuel production. The company had made arrangements for crude oil in advance so that any disruption in the supply chain at the international level does not affect the domestic market. What will be the impact on the stock market and investors? Amidst this controversy and rumors, investors are also keeping an eye on the shares of MRPL. Emergency statement: To avoid instability in the market due to rumors, the company has also informed the stock markets (BSE/NSE). Good news of dividend: Recently MRPL Has declared an interim dividend of ₹ 4 per share for its investors. The company has said that this dividend will be paid before April 2, 2026. Record Date: The record date for receiving the dividend has been fixed as March 11, 2026. Why was the rumour? Actually, around March 5, it was claimed in some reports that due to tension in the Strait of Hormuz, oil tankers coming to India have got stuck. After this, speculations began that the refinery may have to close its units. However, government sources and MRPL management have now made it clear that the situation is completely under control.
