Mrunal Thakur speaks on casting issues and deleted scenes in Son of Sardaar 2 during Dakuat Ek Prem Katha promotions
Actress Mrunal Thakur is currently busy with the promotional activities of her upcoming movie “Dakait: Oru Prem Katha”. Amidst this, his comments about one of his previous films, “Son of Sardaar 2”, have again grabbed the limelight. At a recent event, she spoke candidly about her experience with the film, revealing that some of the creative decisions affected her confidence.
Dissatisfaction with the casting decision
Mrunal Thakur said that he was not informed beforehand that a veteran actor would be cast as his character’s husband in the film. He also mentioned that this decision influenced the expression of his character. He stated that it did not match the perspective he had expected before filming began, and he experienced difficulty and frustration due to this.
He explained that although the experience affected him emotionally, he took it as part of his professional journey. He also made it clear that he had no regrets about his work, even though his confidence had faltered for some time.
Key scenes removed in editing
He also revealed that two of his important emotional scenes in the film were deleted during the editing process. One of them is the scene related to his screen daughter, which is designed to be emotional for the audience. She said her character in the film plays the role of motherhood in a young woman’s life, and a key scene featured a deeply emotional dialogue, but it was not included in the final version.
In “Son of Sardaar 2”, Mrunal Thakur’s character, referred to as “Rabia Akhtar”, is shown to be in a complicated relationship with her estranged husband. Chunky Pandey plays the role of the husband. While their relationship and story structure were already talked about in the film, later changes and editing decisions are said to have changed the unfolding of the story.

Mrunal Thakur started his career in television and later carved a niche for himself in films. She made her Bollywood debut with “Love Sonia” after acting in serials like “Kumkum Bhagya” and “Mujse Kuch Gehti… Yeh Kamoshiyan”. He subsequently acted in films like “Super 30” and “Badla House”. She has also appeared in South Indian films like “Seetha Ram” and “Hai Nanna”.
Currently active in both the Hindi and South Indian film industries, she has joined several new projects including “Hai Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai” (with Varun Dhawan), “Pooja Mary Jaan” and “Raaga” (a project associated with Allu Arjun and Atlee).
Mrunal Thakur is currently busy with the promotions of his recently released movie “Dagait: Oru Prem Katha”. Although the film did not perform as well as expected at the box office, discussions about her performance continue.
