MS Dhoni appointed as brand ambassador for Jharkhand assembly elections, know details

Former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been appointed as the brand ambassador of Jharkhand for the upcoming assembly elections, according to Chief Electoral Officer K.Ravi Kumar.

Dhoni has given permission to the Election Commission to use his image in campaign materials aimed at encouraging voter participation.

Kumar said during a press conference in Ranchi on Friday, “Mahendra Singh Dhoni has given his consent to the Election Commission to use his photograph. We are in touch with him for further details. Mahendra Singh Dhoni will work to mobilize voters. ,

Dhoni's participation is expected to increase voter awareness under the SVEEP (Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation) programme, with the Commission aiming to leverage his popularity to boost turnout.

The elections will begin on November 13 with 43 constituencies going to the polls. The filing of nominations concluded on Friday, with former Chief Minister Champai Soren submitting his nomination as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for Saraikala. Soren criticized the Congress and its allies, saying they have minimal influence in the state.

Sudesh Maho, All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) president and former deputy chief minister, also filed his nomination from Sili constituency on Friday. Meanwhile, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) released a list of 35 candidates on October 23.

The BJP, in alliance with AJSU, Janata Dal (United), and Lok Janshakti Party, announced its list of 66 candidates on 19 October. The party will contest 68 seats, including AJSU 10 seats, JD-U TWO, and JD-U TWO, and LJP one.

Elections for 81 assembly seats of Jharkhand will be held in two phases on November 13 and November 20. The results are to be declared on November 23.
