Ravi Kumar said that Dhoni has given permission to use his picture in posters for the assembly elections. Speaking to the media on Friday, Ravi Kumar said, “Mahendra Singh Dhoni has given permission to the Election Commission to use his photo. We have contacted them for further information. Dhoni will work to encourage voters to vote.

Dhoni will do voter awareness work under SVEEP (Voter Systematic Education and Participation in Voting). He said, “The Election Commission is confident that Dhoni's appeal and popularity will be used to motivate voters to vote in large numbers. Voting for 81 assembly seats of Jharkhand will be held in two phases on 13 and 20 November. Counting of votes will take place on November 23. In the first phase, voting will be held for 43 assembly constituencies on November 13. Nominations for this ended on Friday. Former state chief minister Sambai Soran, one of the candidates who filed nomination papers, is contesting as a BJP candidate from Seraikela constituency.

All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) party leader and former deputy chief minister Sudesh Mahato is contesting from Chilli constituency. The ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha released its first list of 35 candidates on October 23. The BJP released its first list of 66 candidates for the Jharkhand Assembly elections on October 19. BJP is facing the Jharkhand Assembly elections in alliance with All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU), United Janata Dal and Lok Janshakti Party.
