1971 issue will be resolved between Pakistan and Bangladesh, Mohammad Yunus and Shahbaz Sharif met in Cairo

Cairo: D-8 conference is being held in Egypt's capital Cairo. Here there was a meeting between Bangladesh's Chief Advisor Professor Mohammad Yunus and Pakistan's Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

In this meeting, both the leaders agreed to strengthen relations between the two countries by increasing trade, commerce and exchange of sports and cultural delegations. Yunus, who heads Bangladesh's interim government, also talked about plans to make necessary reforms in his government and hold general elections before mid-2026.

Yunus said he was leading a consensus-building commission to negotiate reforms. Along with this, he appealed to his Pakistani counterpart to resolve the issues of 1971 so that Dhaka can be helped in taking forward its relations with Islamabad. The head of the interim government told Pakistan PM Sharif that these issues keep arising again and again. Let us resolve these issues. So that we can move forward. It would be good to sort these things out once again for future generations.

Pak PM discusses trilateral agreement

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the 1974 trilateral agreement involving Bangladesh, Pakistan and India had sorted things out. But if there are any other outstanding issues, he will be happy to consider them. Sharif said that we are really keen to strengthen our relations with our brother Bangladesh.

Mohammad Yunus looked eager for SAARC summit

Pak PM praised Professor Yunus for invigorating the SAARC grouping and working on the possibility of holding this regional summit. Head of the transferred government of Bangladesh, Mohammad Yunus told Shahbaz Sharif that this is the biggest priority. I am a big fan of the idea of ​​SAARC.
