Reliance Jio Masterstroke Amid Declining User Base: Billionaire Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Jio is India’s largest telecom operator, but in recent months its user base has declined due to an increase in tariff plans in July this year. Not only Jio but Airtel and Vodafone Idea also hiked their plans and witnessed a decline in their user bases. When private players are witnessing a decline in their user bases, government-owned BSNL added lakhs of subscribers in recent months, bringing its total subscriber base to 91.89 million, as per the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). Now, Jio has made a major move to counter its decreasing users. This decision is expected to benefit millions of Jio users. The company has relaunched a plan offering greater validity than before. Check details here.
Jio, Airtel, And Vodafone Increased Recharge Plans Price
In July this year, Jio had raised the price of its Rs 999 plan by Rs 200, making it available at Rs 1,199. This plan offered unlimited PAN India calling across all networks, free national roaming, 3GB of daily high-speed data, and 100 free SMS per day. Additionally, users get access to complimentary apps.
Revised Plan
The Mukesh Ambani-owned telecom company has now reintroduced its Rs 999 plan with added benefits. The revised plan offers 14 extra days of validity, extending the total to 98 days. Users will get unlimited free calling across all networks in India, 2GB of daily high-speed data (up to 196GB), and 100 free SMS per day. Users will also get access to Jio’s complimentary apps.
Competition from Airtel
Similarly, Airtel also offers a plan priced at Rs 979. The plan offers unlimited free calling, free national roaming, and 100 daily SMS, with 2GB of daily high-speed data. However, the plan provides a shorter validity of 84 days compared to Jio’s 98 days in the revised plan.
Jio’s strategic revision aims to attract more users while maintaining its competitive edge in the telecom market.
