After data, now it’s AI’s turn…will provide intelligence service at cheap price, Mukesh Ambani’s big announcement, said- will invest ₹ 10 lakh crore
Industrialist Mukesh Ambani made a big announcement regarding Artificial Intelligence at the India AI Impact Summit. The head of Reliance Industries said that just as Jio made data cheap in the country, in the same way Artificial Intelligence will also be made available to the common Indian at affordable rates. He said that ‘India cannot rent intelligence’ and Jio will now connect the country to the ‘Intelligence Era’ after the Internet era.
In this direction, Jio and Reliance Industries will invest ₹10 lakh crore in the next seven years. Ambani said that this investment will be made with the aim of creating a strong AI infrastructure in India and ensuring economic strength for the coming decades.
The company is developing a multi-gigawatt AI-ready data center park in Jamnagar in a phased manner. The target is to commission 120 MW capacity by the end of 2026 which will be further expanded to GW level. This entire structure will be based on green energy. Apart from this, Jio will provide such compute capacity across the country through its network so that AI services can reach people, shops, schools, hospitals and farms at low cost and fast speed.
Ambani stressed that Jio AI will work in Indian languages so that farmers, youth, students and small businessmen can avail its benefits in their own language. Platforms like Jio Shiksha AI for education, Jio Arogya AI for health, Jio Krishi for agriculture and Jio Bharat IQ for general use were introduced. This will provide AI based assistance in local languages.
Mukesh Ambani expressed confidence that India can become a leading AI power in the 21st century provided the technology is accessible, affordable and developed according to the needs of the country. These announcements of Jio indicate that after connectivity, the company is now moving towards making AI the next national infrastructure.
On the concerns arising from AI, Ambani said that AI is the mantra that gives power to every system to work faster, better and smarter. I see AI as a modern renewable container that can provide endless nourishment. AI will not take away jobs, but it will create new opportunities in high-skilled jobs.
At the beginning of his address, Ambani praised the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that this initiative of AI-based development will give new impetus to the national goal of making India a developed nation by 2047. He said that this initiative can become an inspiring model not only for India but also for the countries of the Global South.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally inaugurated the India AI Impact Summit 2026 on Thursday (19 February 2026). He welcomed more than 20 countries and more than 500 AI leaders to India. He described this impact happening in India as a matter of pride for the Global South.
