Mumbai Boat Accident: PM Modi announced ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of 13 deceased.
New Delhi. Thirteen people died when a boat going from Gateway of India to Elephanta in Mumbai capsized off Uran in Karanja in the Arabian Sea. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over this incident.

Also, PM Modi has announced to give an ex-gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh each from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund to the families of each person killed in this accident.
In a post on social media platform Rs 50,000 will be given to the injured.
Earlier in a post, PM Modi expressed grief over the boat accident in Mumbai. He said that my condolences to the bereaved families. I pray that the injured people get well soon. The administration is providing assistance to the affected people.
Let us tell you that while giving information about the accident, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said that a boat named Neelkamal fell victim to an accident at around 3:55 pm at Butcher Island in Mumbai. According to the information till 7:30 pm, 101 people have been rescued safely and 13 people have died in the accident. Among those killed, 10 are civilians and 3 are Navy personnel. Two people are seriously injured, who have been admitted to the Naval Hospital.

Devendra Fadnavis said, with the help of 11 craft 4 helicopters, Navy and Coast Guard police have conducted the rescue operation. Final information about the missing people will be available on Thursday morning. The bereaved families will be given an ex-gratia amount of Rs 5 lakh each from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. The entire incident will be investigated by the Police Navy.
According to media reports, three boats of Navy, JNPT, Coast Guard, Yellowgate Police Station and local fishermen are continuing the rescue operation at the spot.
President Draupadi Murmu KC Venugopal also expressed grief over the Mumbai boat accident. “I am shocked and saddened to learn of the accident that took place between a passenger ferry and an Indian Navy craft boat off the Mumbai coast,” the President said in a post on Twitter. My condolences are with the families of those who have lost their lives. I pray for the speedy success of the rescue and relief operations and the speedy recovery of the survivors.
