After interrogation, the crime branch said, “Shariful had played wrestling at the district and national level. Being a wrestling player, Shariful had a tough time on Saif. After the incident, he slept at the bus stand. Before going to Thane, he changed his clothes. Worked in a pub in Worli, from where he was fired for theft. Shariful came to Mumbai in September.
Shariful had reached Saif's apartment with the help of a pipe. Mumbai Police can recreate the crime scene at Saif Ali Khan's Bandra house. Shariful is on police remand for 5 days. Police said that Shariful had entered the Bollywood star's apartment on the morning of January 16 with the intention of theft. Investigation reveals that he reached the eighth floor of the building by stairs. After this, he climbed the 12th floor using a pipe and entered Saif's flat through the bathroom window.
Saif was attacked at around 2 am on January 15; he suffered serious injuries on his spine and neck. After this he reached Lilavati Hospital, where he is being treated. According to media reports, a decision on his discharge will be taken in 1-2 days.
