Ghat section will be completely omitted

This missing link connects Khopoli directly with Kusgaon. Due to which the passengers can proceed by avoiding the Lonavala Khandala Ghat road. The Mumbai Pune Missing Link will reduce the travel distance by about six kilometers and save at least 25-30 minutes especially during rush hours. This ‘missing link’, about 13.3 km long, has been constructed to avoid dangerous turns and traffic jams in the ghats. This will make travel from Mumbai to Pune safer and faster.

The project will save fuel, reduce pollution and make travel smoother. Initially, only light vehicles and buses will be given priority over the missing link. Heavy vehicles are completely banned. This will reduce the traffic congestion in the ghat.

Modern engineering has been used in this project. It consists of long tunnels, high bridges and viaducts passing through mountainous areas. Hence, this project is considered as one of the ambitious infrastructure projects in the state. Mumbai Pune Expressway Missing Link

The security system of these tunnels works on artificial intelligence (AI) based system. Hazards such as fire, smoke or toxic gases are reported to the control room within seconds and immediate measures are initiated. In the event of an emergency such as a fire, the fire is brought under control by a fine spray of high-pressure water. For this, sensors and automatic nozzles have been arranged throughout the tunnel.
