Mumbai Pune Expressway Missing Link : New facility on Mumbai-Pune Missing Link! A special safety cover will be installed on the 185 meter high bridge

Mumbai Pune Expressway Missing Link: The much awaited Missing Link between Mumbai and Pune has come into service from May 1 and thousands of vehicles are plying through this Missing Link every day. Due to the missing link, the distance between Pune and Mumbai has been reduced and now the passengers can avoid the Lonavala Khandala Ghat road and travel further comfortably. Now MSRDC has taken an important step to make travel on this route even safer. The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has decided to install special ‘wind shields’ on the massive cable-stayed bridge on this route. These important steps are being taken to reduce the danger to motorists due to strong winds blowing in this area especially during monsoon.

The 13.3 km Missing Link project has made travel between Mumbai and Pune faster. By avoiding the many dangerous turns and traffic jams on the old ghat route, the journey time has been reduced by as much as 30 minutes. This is saving thousands of drivers time and fuel. The major attraction of this project is the magnificent cable-stayed bridge erected over a deep valley. At a height of about 182 to 185 meters, the bridge is considered one of the tallest cable-stayed bridges in the country. However, due to high altitude, strong winds are likely to blow in this area, especially during monsoons. If the winds start blowing strongly, it is likely to affect the stability of the vehicles. It is against this backdrop that MSRDC has started the installation of wind shields on both sides of the bridge. This special protective cover will reduce the impact of cross winds hitting the vehicles directly. As a result, speeding cars and other light vehicles will get more safety.

According to experts, such wind shields are used on many high bridges and sea bridges in the world. This gives drivers better control over the vehicle and reduces the risk of accidents in bad weather.

Currently, heavy vehicles are not allowed on the missing link, while vehicles carrying flammable materials are permanently banned. Considering the increasing traffic load in the future, officials believe that wind shields will play an important role in terms of safety. Mumbai Pune Expressway Missing Link

The Missing Link Project on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway is considered to be one of the most modern and technically challenging projects in Maharashtra. It has been constructed with the help of tunnels, high bridges and advanced engineering technology. Now due to the construction of wind shields, this missing link will be more safe, especially during monsoons, the motorists will get great relief.
