Water crisis deepens in Mumbai, driest June in 12 years
Mumbai: The country’s financial capital Mumbai is facing a big water challenge these days. Despite half of June having passed, the city has not received rain as expected. The situation is such that the water level in the major reservoirs supplying water to the city has decreased rapidly. The administration has taken several precautionary measures and started cutting water supply to industrial and commercial consumers.

Experts say that this time due to slow pace of monsoon, much less rainfall than normal has been recorded in many parts of Maharashtra. This has had a direct impact on the reservoirs. The city administration believes that if there is no good rainfall in the coming days, then more strict decisions may have to be taken to save water.
However, the Meteorological Department is hopeful that the monsoon will become fully active by the end of the month, which may improve the situation. At present, the people of Mumbai are being appealed to limit the use of water and stop unnecessary wastage.
