Mumbai’s return to Wankhede… Defeated Lucknow by 4 wickets due to the brilliant innings of Rohit-Rickleton.

Tezzbuzz Desk- In IPL 2026, Mumbai Indians finally tasted victory at their home ground Wankhede Stadium. Mumbai regained its momentum by defeating struggling Lucknow Super Giants by 4 wickets in a ‘do or die’ match after four consecutive defeats.

In this high-scoring match, the batsmen of both the teams scored a lot of runs. Batting first, Lucknow Super Giants scored a huge score of 228 runs in 20 overs. From the team side, Mitchell Marsh, Nicholas Pooran and Josh English started aggressively and added 141 runs in just 10 overs. Especially Puran played a stormy inning of 63 runs in 21 balls and scored a half-century in just 17 balls.

However, Mumbai Indians bowlers made a brilliant comeback in the middle and final overs. The bowlers, led by Corbin Bosch, controlled the run rate and prevented Lucknow from crossing 250. Because of this, a big score was missed, which later proved to be the turning point of the match.

While chasing the target of 229 runs, Mumbai got off to a good start by former captain Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickleton. Both of them made the match one-sided by making an explosive partnership of 143 runs in 10.4 overs. Rohit scored 84 runs in 44 balls, while Rickleton scored 83 runs in 32 balls.

Rohit Sharma was returning after injury and he scored a brilliant half-century as soon as he came. Rickleton also continued his excellent form and kept scoring runs at a fast pace. Both the batsmen missed the century, but they strengthened the foundation of Mumbai’s victory.

Tilak Verma and Suryakumar Yadav were out early in the middle order, but in the end Naman Dhir gave the team victory by scoring unbeaten 23 runs in 12 balls. Mumbai achieved the target by losing 4 wickets in 18.4 overs.

With this win, Mumbai Indians registered their third win in 10 matches, while this was Lucknow Super Giants’ sixth consecutive defeat and seventh defeat overall. It was once again proved at Wankhede that when Mumbai’s top order gets going, even the biggest goals become easy.
