Musang King durian named Southeast Asia’s 7th best fruit: TasteAtlas

Musang King durians are primarily cultivated in Malaysia, especially in the state of Pahang, and are widely regarded for their premium quality.

Beyond Malaysia, the variety is also highly popular in other Asian markets, most notably Singapore and China.

The fruit is commonly used in a range of desserts, including ice cream, cakes and pastries, reflecting its rich flavor and creamy texture.

Musang King durians are typically harvested during Malaysia’s southwest monsoon season, with peak availability from June to August.

More broadly, durian is grown across tropical countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia. The fruit is known for its large size, pungent aroma and distinctive thorn-covered rind.

Mangosteen has been named the best fruit in Southeast Asia, followed by rambutan from Singapore and the Latundan banana of the Philippines.

According to TasteAtlasthe rankings are based on audience ratings, using a system that filters out bots and overly patriotic votes, with more weight given to knowledgeable users.
