Muzaffarnagar police foil robbery attempt: One suspect injured, 2 arrested in encounter
Muzaffarnagar: A tense encounter unfolded late last night in the Rohana area of Muzaffarnagar when police intercepted suspicious bike riders during a routine checking drive. The confrontation left one criminal injured and two others in custody.
According to police sources, a team from the Rohana Police Post, along with the Excise Police, was conducting a routine check at Didhahedi Chowk when three youths on a bike without a number plate attempted to flee upon spotting the officers. The suspects allegedly opened fire on the police, triggering a retaliatory response.
In the exchange of gunfire, one of the accused, identified as Farman, sustained a gunshot wound and was immediately admitted to a hospital. His condition is currently stable. Police swiftly cordoned off the area and launched a combing operation, leading to the arrest of Farman’s two accomplices.
Preliminary interrogation revealed that all three suspects were involved in a robbery in the Rohana area on the 15th of this month. Authorities have also recovered stolen mobile phones, cash, and weapons from the accused. Investigations into their criminal backgrounds and other possible offenses are ongoing.
The police have appealed to the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity, emphasizing their commitment to maintaining law and order in the region.
