Nagpur Media Sports Event: Obnews’s Mahesh Sarangi and S.S. Ahmed gave a tough fight and won big in the doubles match of Media Badminton Tournament. Media Badminton Tournament was organized at Subhedar Hall of Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University. Many big media organizations of Nagpur participated in this tournament.
Obnews maintained its last year’s record by achieving a big win against Lokmat in the SJAN-Raisoni Media Badminton Tournament held at Subhedar Hall. This tournament, which has been going on since 1999, has been organized by the Sports Journalists Association of Nagpur (SJAN) under the leadership of G.H. Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation, in collaboration with the Department of Sports and Physical Education, Nagpur University and Nagpur District Badminton Association.
Obnews won the doubles title
In the men’s doubles match, Obnews’s Mahesh Sarangi and S.S. Ahmed’s pair performed brilliantly and defeated Ashish Jain and Sarvesh Kalantri of Lokmat in the final. The competition for points continued between both the teams till the last moment, but in the end, Obnews pair gave a tough fight and defeated Lokmat 21-19, 21-18.

In women’s singles, Obnews’s Priya Jais and Apoorva Nayak also made it to the semi-finals with their strong performance. Immediately after the final, Raisoni Group Director (PR) Amit Gandhare, G. Dr. Mrinal Naik, Director, H. Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation and Dr. Ram Thakur, Former President of SJAN, presented the titles and prize money to all the winners, runners-up and semi-finalists.

Final : Mahesh Sarangi – S. S. Ahmed (Obnews) defeated Ashish Jain-Sarvesh Kalantri (Lokmat) 21-19, 21-18.
Women’s Singles Semi-finals: Meenal Jain (Lokmat) defeated Priya Jais (Obnews) 21-13, 21-7.
Meha Sharma (Lokmat) defeated Apoorva Nayak (Obnews) 21-5, 21-9.
Final: Meenal Jain defeated Meha Sharma 21-11, 21-9.
