Names of many stations of Delhi Metro changed, CM Rekha Gupta gave the reason
The names of some stations connected to the metro network in the capital Delhi have been changed. This decision was taken by the State Names Authority (SNA) under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. A total of 21 station names were considered during the review, out of which 12 were kept as before, 7 were partially modified and 2 stations were completely changed.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that metro stations are not just a means of transport, but they also represent the identity, history and cultural importance of the concerned area. Therefore, all the names have been selected thoughtfully and after detailed discussion. many names Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) have been maintained only as per the Detailed Project Report (DPR).
These things were kept in mind while deciding the name
According to the CM, while making changes in the names, priority was given to local identity, historical and cultural importance, geographical clarity and recommendations of public representatives and citizens. Where necessary, joint names were also approved by adding the names of major nearby areas, so that it would be convenient for the passengers to identify the station and there would be no confusion.
These names were kept as is
The names of Majlis Park, Bhalswa, Haiderpur Badli Mod, Deepali Chowk, Yamuna Vihar, Bhajanpura, Khajuri Khas, Surghat, Jharauda Majra, Burari, Pushpanjali and Maujpur-Babarpur will remain the same.
Amendments made in the names of these stations
The revised names include North Pitampura-Prasant Vihar (earlier Prashant Vihar), Jagatpur-Wazirabad (earlier Jagatpur), Nanak Pyau-Derawal Nagar (earlier Derawal Nagar), Khanpur-Vayusainabad (earlier Khanpur), Nanaksar-Sonia Vihar (earlier Sonia Vihar), Shri Ram Mandir Mayur Vihar (earlier Mayur Vihar Pocket-1) and Mangolpur. Consists of Kalan-West Enclave (earlier West Enclave).
The names of these stations were completely changed
The names of two stations have been completely changed. The new name of North Pitampura has now been changed to Haiderpur village and Pitampura station has been changed to Madhuban Chowk. This change has been made in accordance with the local identity of the area. The Chief Minister said that the authority has taken the final decision on every proposal only after factual review and detailed deliberations. In future too, if any appropriate proposal comes in public interest, it will be considered as per rules.
