Napoli confirm €50M total deal for Rasmus Højlund as Man United eye €80M from sales
Serie A champions Napoli have confirmed their decision to sign striker Rasmus Højlund on a permanent transfer after activating the €44 million buy clause in his loan agreement with Manchester United.
The decision was officially confirmed by Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna, who revealed that the club had already made up its mind to secure the Danish forward beyond his initial loan spell. Napoli had paid a €6 million loan fee last summer to bring Højlund to Italy, and with the clause now triggered, the total value of the transfer package will reach €50 million.
Højlund joined Napoli on loan after struggling for consistency during his time at Manchester United. However, the young forward managed to revive his form in Serie A, convincing the club’s management that he is worth keeping as part of their long-term attacking plans.
The deal also represents important financial movement for Manchester United, who are currently looking to reshape their squad. With Napoli completing the permanent signing of Højlund, the Premier League side will receive a total of €50 million from the transfer.
