Narendra Modi grand welcome in Sweden, fighter jets escorted, important talks to be held on trade, AI and defense cooperation
Tezzbuzz Desk – Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Sweden on Sunday evening in the third phase of his five-nation foreign tour, where he was given a grand welcome. The special thing was that as soon as Prime Minister Modi’s plane entered Sweden’s airspace, Swedish Gripen fighter jets escorted his plane. Sweden’s Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson himself received him at Gothenburg Airport.
This two-day visit of Prime Minister Modi is being considered very important for giving new strength to the relations between India and Sweden. During this, there will be discussions between the two countries on many important issues like trade, green energy, artificial intelligence, new technology, startup, defence, space and climate change. Besides, both the leaders will also discuss measures to strengthen the supply chain and increase contact between people.
During this visit, Prime Minister Modi and Ulf Kristersson will also jointly address the European Round Table for Industry. Ursula von der Leyen will also participate in this program. This platform is considered to be the main trading platform of big industrial companies of Europe.
Before reaching Sweden, Prime Minister Modi completed a tour of Netherlands, where relations between the two countries were elevated to strategic partnership. Netherlands Prime Minister Rob Jetten himself reached Amsterdam Airport to bid farewell to Prime Minister Modi.
During the visit to Netherlands, 17 agreements including defence, semiconductor, critical minerals, green energy and technical cooperation were signed between the two countries. Both leaders also expressed concern about the increasing tension in West Asia and its impact on global energy supply and trade.
Prime Minister Modi said in a social media post that his visit to Netherlands has given new momentum to the relations between the two countries. He said that India and the Netherlands have prepared a roadmap for a strong future partnership in areas like water management, innovation, defence, sustainability and mobility.
During this, Prime Minister Modi and Rob Jetton also visited the famous Afsluitdijk Dam. Both countries discussed possibilities of increasing cooperation on water management and climate resilient infrastructure. It is believed that Gujarat’s ambitious Kalpsar project can also benefit from this.
Prime Minister Modi also held a meeting with CEOs of Dutch companies and invited them for new investment opportunities in India. He emphasized on increasing cooperation in maritime infrastructure, renewable energy, digital technology, AI, semiconductor and health sectors.
