Mumbai Coastal Road Project Highlights
When it comes to the under-construction Coastal Road project in Mumbai Metropolitan region, it will be an 8-lane expressway that will span 29.2 km.
Further, this e-way will stretch along the western coastline of Mumbai.
It will connect with the Marine Lines in the south of the city to Kandivali in the north.
Its first phase spans over 10.58 km, connecting Princess Street flyover to the Bandra–Worli Sea Link.
This stretch was already inaugurated on March 11, 2024.
As we already know that the Coastal Road extension will go till Virar in Palghar district so it will definitely offer good connectivity with the third airport announced in the Mumbai Metropolitan region.
Earlier, PM Narendra Modi announced a plan to build a new airport while addressing a public gathering during the Maharashtra election campaign in Dhule.
The BJP-led alliance in Maharashtra will start the work on the airport planned near Vadhavan Port project in Palghar, PM Modi added.
This airport is expected to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 76,220 crore, as per the announcement.
This will be close to the ambitious Vadhavan Port project, in the northern part of the MMR.
If the poll announcement made by the PM turns into a reality,
After completion, this project will help in enhancing the economic activities in the region, while creating more jobs, and significantly reduce the air traffic burden on the CSMI Airport in Mumbai.
