NASA recalled Crew-11 from ISS under medical evacuation, what was the reason?
American space agency NASA has decided to return four astronauts from the International Space Station (ISS) to Earth early due to health problems. This is the first time in the history of the ISS that the entire crew is being called back to Earth for any medical reason. According to NASA, the astronauts are stable, but this step has been taken keeping the risk in mind.
The four returning astronauts include America’s Mike Finke and Jenna Cardman, Japan’s Kimiya Yui and Russia’s Oleg Platonov. All of them are part of the Crew-11 SpaceX mission, which was on the ISS from August 2025. Usually such missions are six months long, but now these astronauts will be called back a few weeks earlier.
NASA has clarified that this is not an emergency, and keeping in mind the privacy of the astronauts, not much information has been given. Experts believe that this health problem may be related to the preparations for the spacewalk, although NASA has not confirmed in this regard.
Due to limited medical facilities on the ISS, if any problem is not being diagnosed properly, then this step has been taken for better treatment on Earth. NASA’s Associate Administrator Amit Kshatriya has called this an important step.
NASA’s mission priority is always safety, and all options were considered with this in mind, including an early termination of Crew-11’s mission.
