Nasik A sensational case has come to light in which Ashok Kharat, an astrologer who calls himself ‘Captain’, has faced serious criminal charges. After his arrest, the police have seized 58 video clips and assets worth more than Rs 150 crore from him. The allegations include rape, blackmailing and financial crimes.

After this arrest, layers of the case are being revealed and with every new information the situation is looking more serious. Investigations have revealed that Kharat amassed huge wealth over the years and allegedly misused video clips against women and famous people.

The most shocking evidence of this case is said to be 58 video clips. During the raid, these clips were recovered from different digital devices. Police say that some of these videos may allegedly be related to women and famous faces. Their forensic investigation is going on. Police say that if these allegations are found true, then the case will not be limited to sexual exploitation only, but can also take the shape of a big blackmailing racket.

How was the revelation revealed?

Nashik Crime Branch Unit-1 took action at around 4 am on March 18 and arrested Ashok Kharat. A case of rape of a 35-year-old woman is registered against him in Sarkarwada police station. Seeing the seriousness of the case, the Maharashtra government handed it over to the Special Investigation Team (SIT). The command of SIT is in the hands of woman IPS officer Tejaswini Satpute.

During the investigation, officials interrogated Kharat for about two hours, although not much information has been shared officially yet. SIT says that the investigation is still in the initial stage and as the facts emerge, further action will be taken on that basis.

Another case has come to light from Shirdi, where a woman lodged a complaint that an objectionable picture was sent to her from the phone number associated with Ashok Kharat’s office and money was demanded by threatening to make it viral. In this case, the name of Neeraj Jadhav, an employee associated with the accused’s office, has come to light. The police is investigating whether this was the action of Neeraj Jadhav alone or a bigger network was working behind it.

Property worth how many crores recovered?

In the police raid, a pistol, cartridges and about Rs 6.5 lakh in cash were recovered from Kharat’s house. Investigation revealed that Ashok Kharat has acquired huge wealth in the last 15 years. Police estimate that his total wealth is between Rs 150 to 200 crore.
