Nathan Lyon created history, became the sixth highest wicket taker in Test cricket.
Adelaide, December 18: Australia’s experienced off-spinner Nathan Lyon has achieved another major achievement in Test cricket. On the second day of the third Test match of the ongoing Ashes series, at the Adelaide Oval, Lyon overtook former legendary fast bowler Glenn McGrath and became the sixth highest wicket-taker in Test history. For this feat, Lyon needed two wickets and the 38-year-old off-spinner achieved this feat in his very first over. On the third ball of the over, he got Ollie Pope caught by Josh Inglis at midwicket. On the last ball of the over, Lyon uprooted the off stump of England opener Ben Duckett. With these two wickets, Lyon took his number of wickets in Test cricket to 564 and left behind Glenn McGrath’s record of 563 wickets. Lyon is the most successful Test bowler among the currently active players, while Australia’s Mitchell Starc is second with 420 wickets.Top 10 bowlers with most wickets in Test cricket1.
