National Badminton Championship: Surya Karishma won women’s title and Ritwik won men’s title.

Surya Karishma Tamiri won the women’s singles title and Ritwik Sanjeevi won the men’s singles title in the Senior National Badminton Championships here on Sunday. 19-year-old Surya from Vijayawada defeated Tanvi Patri 17-21, 21-12, 21-14 in the women’s singles final that lasted for almost an hour.

In the men’s singles final, Ritwik defeated Bharat 21-16, 22-20. Tanvi took control in the middle of the first game and forced many unforced errors from Surya. In the second game, at 6-5, a service return from Surya went into the net, which the service judge called a ‘height error’, which brought relief to Surya.

After this, Surya won the second game by winning seven consecutive points. Surya engaged Tanvi in ​​long rallies in the deciding game due to which fatigue was clearly visible. Tanvi tried to stay in the match, but in the end Surya won the match by taking six consecutive points after 15-14.

Ritwik easily won the first game of the men’s singles final but then came under pressure in the second game as his opponent took a 9-5 lead. Ritwik, the 2024 Odisha Masters winner, regained the lead by scoring six consecutive points. However, due to two wrong decisions, Bharat made a comeback and also got the game point.

Despite this, Ritwik maintained his composure and won the match in 39 minutes. In other matches, the pair of Shikha Gautam and Ashwini Bhatt won the women’s doubles title by defeating second seeds Priya Devi Konjengbam and Shruti Mishra 21-14, 21-18.

Top seeds Hariharan Amasakarunan and R Ruban Kumar defeated Mithilesh P Krishnan and Prejan 21-17, 21-12 in the men’s doubles final. In the mixed doubles, second seeds Satwik Reddy K and Radhika Sharma won the title by defeating top seeds Ashith Surya and Amrita P 21-9, 21-15.
