Abhishek beats World Champion Ojas to reach final

Indian compound archer Abhishek Verma continued his impressive run at the Archery Senior Nationals, reaching the final with a dominating win against reigning world champion Ojas Deotale on Wednesday.

He entered the elimination round as the first seed after topping the ranking round with a brilliant score of 714. He will now take on Uday Kamboj in the final of the men’s compound individual event.

Verma showcased his accuracy and qualified for the final with two consecutive rounds of perfect scores (150-146) against Ojas in the quarterfinals and his Delhi teammate Aman Saini (150-148) in the semifinals.

On the other hand, Kamboj faced a tough challenge against Prathamesh Fuge of Maharashtra in the quarterfinals, winning it with a narrow (147-146) 1-point margin and followed with a comfortable win (148-145) against Simranjot Singh in the semis.

World Team medalist Parneet Kaur reaches final

In the women’s compound Individual category, Parneet Kaur of Punjab will face Srishti Singh of Madhya Pradesh in the final.

Parneet registered two dominating victories against Raj Kaur (147-142) in the quarterfinals and Swati Dudhwal of Rajasthan (149-144) in the semifinals to book her place in the final of the competition.

Meanwhile, Srishti edged out (145-144) KS Vhenisa Sree of Tamil Nadu in the quarterfinal. She had another close match in the semi-final against Jasveen Kaur, winning it 144-144 (9*-9) in the shoot-off to reach the final.

In the team event, Services defeated Punjab (234-230) to set up the summit clash with Madhya Pradesh in the men’scompound team event while it will be Rajasthan versus Maharashtra for the women’s crown.
