What is NMR?

The National Medical Register (NMR)) is a dynamic database that will be a central storehouse of all the registered doctors. In this, their authenticity is verified by the Aadhaar IDs. As per reports, all the MBBS doctors who are registered on the Indian Medical Register (IMR) will have to register again on the NMR. Along with this, all the medical colleges institutions, and state medical councils are correlated on the site. Some of this information will also be visible to the public and other individuals will only be visible to the Ethics and Medical Registration Board of NMC, SMC and National Board of Examinations (NBE).

How to register on NMR?

  • For starting the registration process, the doctors need a digital copy of their MMBS degree certificate, their Aadhaar IDs and their registration certificate from the State Medical Council or Medical Council of India where the doctors themselves registered for the first time.
  • More details such as registration and qualification data can be manually registered and submitted through the portal.
  • After this, the application is automatically sent to the concerned SMC (State medical council) for verification purposes. The SMC then will send the application to the relevant college or institute for further checking. And if the verification fails, the application is sent to the NMC.
  • Once the verification is done by NMC, a unique NMR ID is issued to the doctors.

One of the most common features of the NMR portal is that it offers a varied range of accessibility including the ability to add qualifications, track applications, suspend licenses issue the NMR ID cards and also issue digital cards for the doctors.
