Like every year, National Milk Day is being celebrated on 26th November. Here Dr. Verghese Kurien is called the father of White Revolution i.e. Milk Revolution in India. He tried to overcome milk shortage in India and made milk available to every section of the society. On this day, Verghese Kurien, the father of milk revolution, was born on 26 November 1921, who is also known as Milk Man of India.

Celebrating National Milk Day here started in 2014. The Indian Dairy Association and 22 state level milk unions in collaboration with the National Dairy Development Board decided to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Verghese Kurien as Milk Day in 2014. After the decision of its association, National Milk Day was celebrated for the first time on 26 November 2014.

History of Operation Flood is related to this day

Let us tell you that the history of National Milk Day and Operation Flood is linked. Where the Indian National Dairy Development Board started a rural development program in the year 1970, this program has been named Operation Flood. The objective of starting this Operation Flood was to create a milk grid at the national level. One reason behind celebrating this day was to stop the arbitrariness being done by milk traders. Verghese Kurien had given shape to Operation Flood to deliver milk to the public in its right form.
