National record broken twice within 5 minutes, Animesh Kujur again created history
An amazingly dramatic incident was seen in the men’s 100 meter race on Friday (May 22) in the National Senior Athletics Federation competition being held in Ranchi. Animesh Kujur and Gurinderveer Singh broke the national record twice in just 5 minutes.
In the first heat of the semi-finals, Gurinderveer clocked 10.17 seconds and destroyed Animesh’s 10-month-old national record of 10.18 seconds. However, this record of Gurinderveer could last only for a few minutes. In the second semi-final heat, Animesh again made the national record by timing 10.15 seconds.

There will be an exciting clash in the final
Animesh, representing Odisha, has also become the first Indian athlete to complete the race in less than the qualification standard of 10.16 seconds set by the Athletics Federation of India for the Commonwealth Games. Whereas Gurinderveer missed by just 0.01 seconds. Now another exciting match will be seen between Animesh and Gurinderveer in the final on Saturday.
Deepak Bhatt won the 10 thousand meter race
In the morning session, Deepak Bhatt won the men’s 10,000 meters race with a modest timing of 29 minutes 42.93 seconds. Whereas Shivaji M of Karnataka suffered from ‘dehydration’ problem during the tough race in hot weather, after which the team coaches helped him. Raveena Gaikwad won the women’s 10,000 meters race with a timing of 35 minutes 30.98 seconds, well behind the Commonwealth Games qualification standard of 31 minutes 14.14 seconds.
