National Safety Day: Not cancer or heart attack, most people are dying due to these 5 accidents in India

Major Causes Of Death In India: Every year in India, lakhs of people die before reaching the hospital and the cause of most of these deaths is not due to any fatal disease but due to our small carelessness. Recognizing and avoiding these silent killers, spread from the road to the kitchen, is no longer your choice but a necessity.

Every year on 4th March we celebrate National Safety Day. The purpose of this day is not only to wear safety helmet in the factory or office but to make every aspect of our life safe where danger lies unknowingly. According to the latest data, the rate of accidental deaths in India is leaving behind the death rate of many serious diseases.

road accident

Road accidents are at the top among the total accidents occurring in India. Overspeeding, use of mobile and ignoring helmet-seatbelt are the main reasons for this.

rescue: Speed thrills but kills. Always remember that your 10 seconds of haste on the road can extinguish a family’s life. Always use ISI marked helmet on two-wheeler and seat belt in car, no matter how short the distance.

electric shock

Often we ignore old wires, open switch boards or cheap plugs in the house. Thousands of deaths occur every year due to short circuits and electric shocks while using geysers in the bathroom or mixer in the kitchen.

rescue: Always install MCB and RCCB in the house. Do not touch electrical appliances with wet hands and get the safety checkup of the house wiring done every 5 years.

Kitchen fire and gas leakage

The kitchen is the most important part of the house but also the most dangerous. Exploding gas cylinder or catching fire in an oil pan are major causes of domestic accidents.

rescue: Make a habit of switching off the regulator before sleeping at night. If you smell gas, do not touch any electric switch and open windows and doors. Keeping a small fire extinguisher in the kitchen is a big need of today’s times.

Slipping in the bathroom and on the stairs

Stairs and wet bathrooms are the most unsafe for the elderly and children. A single slip can cause brain hemorrhage or hip fracture which proves fatal in old age.

rescue: Install anti-skid tiles in the bathroom. It is essential to have adequate lighting and strong handrails on the stairs. If water has spilled on the floor, wipe it immediately.

Accidents caused by falling or falling at workplace

Falling from height or getting hit by machines is a big problem in construction works or factories. Considering safety rules as a burden only invites accidents.

Use safety harness (belt) while working at height. Take training before operating any machine. The Safety First board at the workplace should not be just for display but for adoption.

Accidents never come without warning, but preparation can always be done. On this National Safety Day, promise yourself that you will not take shortcuts. Your safety is not only your responsibility but the future of your entire family depends on it.
