Why is it celebrated on 28th February?
On 28 February 1928, the great Indian scientist C.V. Raman had discovered ‘Raman Effect’. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in the year 1930 for this historical discovery. Who was C.V. Raman?
C.V. Raman was a great Indian scientist who discovered the Raman Effect. His full name was Chandrashekhar Venkata Raman. CV Raman was born on 7 November 1888 in Tiruchilapalli, Tamil Nadu. He is said to be not only the first Indian to receive the Nobel Prize in Physics, but also the first scientist from Asia. He died in the year 1970 on 21 November in Karnataka.
