NATO trembled with Putin’s ‘ghost warrior’, Britain got scared and deployed an army of hunters in the sea

UK Atlantic Bastion Programme: Russia has recently tested weapons that cause tsunami-like devastation in the sea, which has frightened countries around the world that are standing against Russia. This weaponry of Russia has created a big challenge especially for the western countries. The submarine was launched from the Arctic port of Severovinsk and not only carries the Poseidon drone, a radioactive tsunami-causing drone, but its low-noise design makes it almost invisible.

Khabarovsk submarine is being called the ghost or devil of the sea. Its new pump-jet engine, special sound-deadening coating and quiet reactor system enable it to move slowly and stealthily in the depths of the ocean, unheard. Because of this, the impact of this dangerous submarine has deepened in NATO countries and they have started looking for solutions against it.

Britain took a big step

Britain plans to build a comprehensive maritime surveillance network called ‘Atlantic Bastion’ to meet this challenge. This network will include new Type-26 frigate ships, P-8 Poseidon maritime surveillance aircraft and autonomous underwater drones. With the help of these equipment, Russian submarines will be discovered. Britain openly believes that this network will counter Russia’s growing submarine capabilities.

The first phase of the plan is the ‘Atlantic Net’, which will be a large sensor network around Iceland, Greenland and the UK. This area is the main entry-point of the Atlantic Ocean for Russian submarines. Marine drones have an important role in Britain’s plan, which will themselves go under the sea and catch the noise of Russian submarines and find out their location and direction.

The network will monitor the GIUK Gap area of the North Atlantic, a key route for Russian submarines. This modern system is similar to the American SOSUS system during the Cold War, but it is more advanced and AI driven.

Russia increased its power in the sea

Russian submarines have become extremely stealthy and difficult to detect over the past several decades. To catch them, now not only silent sensors but active sonar, bi-static radar and joint system are required. Therefore, Britain has planned to develop an AI based high tech marine surveillance system.
